Character sketch of Victor Frankenstein.
The novel, Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus, is undoubtedly as a mere story, of the most original and complete production of the day. As its title already suggest that the character of Frankenstein is major, character of the novel and the novel is round- around this character.
In the novel Mary Shelley describe Frankenstein's character very skilfully. Frankenstein is a round character fully developed in the text in the novel. Frankenstein is young science student goes from his home Geneva to university of Ingolstadt to study science. Frankenstein is hard working and ambitious.
Frankenstein's story begin while he meets R.Walten during in sea journey towards north Russia. And ends where it began. Actually first by R.Walten he was introduced as ill, strange behaviour person but then Walten identified as a good man and know about his past life.
Frankenstein is the eldest child in his family. His father wants to educate him and send him to university of Ingolstadt. Frankenstein is interested in natural philosophy after meeting the professors of university and his teachers also impress by his knowledge and interest.
Frankenstein's knowledge his Ego and ambition draws him towards tragic end. By chemistry and electricity he try to animate the dead body. He try to do the task of God. He is succeeded in his task and create a Monster.
Frankenstein is become the victim of monster, creation of himself. Monster kill one by one relatives and friend of Frankenstein to persuade his demand for his kith and kins. He feels guilt conscious. After the death of William is inner conflict start, His struggle increased and remorse for his own creation.
" She might become ten thousand time more malignant than her mate, and delight for his own sake, in murder and wretchedness."
Because of the guiltiness. Frankenstein suffers much
in the novel. He can't revealed his secret feeling to other. and bitterness towards monster increase his suffering.
Frankenstein's character is somewhat match with classical tragic hero. As a tragic hero he has an ambition to do experiment. He also posses heroic qualities but he himself become responsible for his tragedy.
Frankenstein has noble heart and unselfish person. he even wants to save mankind by missing his relative, and does not accept defeat of surrender to monster. He is courageous and hopeful.  his nature is sympathetic.
